Yara Abdouni
Yara is a qualified physiotherapist with over 16 years of experience in both general physiotherapy and women’s health physiotherapy. She also holds a Masters degree in pelvic floor dysfunctions. Yara graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) degree in physiotherapy from the Catalan University Rovira I Virgili. In 2001, she started working for the UK National Health Service (NHS) and for 8 years she gained extensive experience in her field through working in different clinical settings and hospitals. Prior to her move to Gibraltar in 2016, Yara was based in Abu Dhabi - UAE where she held a Senior Physiotherapist post for 6 years.
Special Interests:
After spending most of her career treating musculoskeletal conditions in women, Yara became very passionate about women’s health and found herself more interested in general pelvic floor rehabilitation. Her personal experience with the benefits of pelvic health physiotherapy as a patient and the positive influence it had on her quality of life, motivated her to pursue further training in pelvic health. She has since trained at a Masters level, specialising in physiotherapy that uses specific treatment techniques to deal with incontinence, pelvic pain, pre/post-natal care, pain during sex, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic girdle pain.
Yara is also trained in acupuncture, manual therapy, dry needling, kinesiotaping and pilates. She has attended more than 30 post-graduate international courses to ensure she continues to further her knowledge and develop a wide range of treatment and intervention skills.
Fares Abdouni
Fares is a qualified physiotherapist with over 16 years of experience in both general Physiotherapy and Craniosacral Therapy.
Fares graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) degree in physiotherapy from the Catalan University Rovira I Virgili. In 2001, he started working for the UK National Health Service (NHS), and for 8 years he gained extensive experience through working in different clinical settings and hospitals.
Fares has been based in Gibraltar since 2010.
Special Interests:
After spending most of his career treating musculoskeletal conditions, Fares became very interested in developing his skills in pain free treatment techniques to help his patients. He has completed a postgraduate in Craniosacral Therapy (CST) as well as postgraduate courses in Myofascial Induction and Myofascial Release techniques (Stecco) and Visceral Therapy.
Fares believes that treating the tension of our skin and what we call fascia (the tissue that recovers all our muscles and viscera) is of maximum importance. Fares has achieved fantastic results treating old injuries by working the skin tension and the fascia with the above techniques. Some of the conditions that have responded very well to such techniques have been ankle sprains, tennis elbow, lumbagos, sciatica, neck pain, jaw pain, dizziness as well as abdominal congestion (constipation). Part of his main philosophy of work lies in identifying the source of the problem rather than treating only the symptoms. This has reflected in the great satisfaction of patients treated by Fares.
